Our Team

  • BEN

The Millers have been a part of Stoa since 2019. Ben is passionate about helping teens become next-level speakers and debaters. Ben sees himself serving in Stoa long after his youngest graduates. Having spent over 25 years in the construction industry, he recently launched his own architectural drawing and engineering business, which gives him the continued freedom to coach with Legacy Speech and Debate.

Married for 22 years, Ben and his wife, Anna, are blessed with four amazing kids, a son-in-law, and a grandson. As a family, outdoor adventures, like camping and hunting, are a big part of their lives.

  • ANNA

With a heart for equipping the next generation with the tools they need for life, Anna brings the superpowers of teaching and motivational coaching to Legacy Speech and Debate. Growing up in the Amish community, homeschooling and public speaking were not on her radar, but she has since become hooked! Along with Ben, her husband of 22 years, she launched the first Stoa club in Pennsylvania. She loves helping students to grow, not just as speakers, but as people.

When not teaching or coaching, Anna loves being outdoors, soaking up the sunshine, and being a mom and grandma.

  • MINDY

A homeschooled student and Stoa alumna, Mindy brings both heart and experience to Legacy Speech and Debate. Now working in sales, she has seen firsthand how confident and capable her public speaking training has made her. She has loved coaching her own brothers, as well as our students, polishing their speeches, and being a part of their journeys.

Coaching aside, Mindy loves trying new recipes in the kitchen, getting competitive over a board game, and enjoying the great outdoors. She and her husband, Enos, live in Canon City along with their son and French bulldog (who thinks she’s a human too!).

  • DAVID

Having spent five years honing his own speech and debate skills as a part of Stoa, David is an alumnus who brings a store of knowhow and experience to Legacy Speech and Debate. Loving to be challenged himself and also having the opportunity to challenge others, he looks forward to helping students reach their potential and take their speaking abilities to the next level.

Alongside coaching and completing his requirements and training to become a pilot, you can also find David out-of-doors where he loves many sports and activities, including, but not limited to, camping and hunting.

  • NANCY

When she was still brand new to the Stoa community, Nancy quickly recognized the need for Stoa in PA after witnessing the value it brought to her oldest son as he participated in his senior year. She comes with a strong commitment to seeing young people learn how to communicate well with their peers and grow together in their faith journey, ready to change the world for Christ. Apologetics has always been her passion and she looks forward to igniting that same passion within the students.

Married to her husband, James, for 19 years and mom to five amazing children, she has a deep love for gardening and enjoys cooking yummy foods. She also loves hiking, fishing, and spending quality time with family and friends.

  • KEITH & COURTNEY

They live in East Earl, PA. Together, they have successfully homeschooled their 7 children for the past 30 years and continue to do so with their three youngest children.  They have served as President of the Coalition of Homeschoolers Across Lancaster County, otherwise known as CHALC, and on the board for Common Clay Ministries.  They currently serve as Secretary and Treasurer of Legacy Speech and Debate (part of STOA).  Courtney is a homeschool evaluator and an excellent resource for prospective and current homeschoolers, while Keith has a financial background and works for Quad Graphics.  Together, they share a passion for home education based upon a biblical worldview, under the guidance and wisdom of the Lord… and they love to share their passion with others seeking to do the same.
